Slough's economy will be boosted by a rail link between the borough and the East of London, it has been claimed.
The rail link would bring prosperity to Slough, the council predicts
Maidenhead would also be included in the proposed link, part of the multi-million pound Crossrail project, which is currently out for consultation.
Dexter Smith, Slough's commissioner for transportation, said the move would bring prosperity to the region and "unlock" new investment.
Homes in the borough will be leafleted to raise awareness of the project.
Mr Smith added: "I welcome the potential benefits that Crossrail will bring for local residents and businesses.
"Slough needs to develop as a regional transport hub for road and rail because of its increasing population, its huge trading estates and its proximity to Heathrow."
"Crossrail in particular, will open up Slough's transport links simplifying rail travel right across London and will improve connections to the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport."
