Lap dancing decision delayed
The owners of a bar will have to wait at least another week to find out if they will be able to stage lap dancing performances.

Drakes Bar on London Street, Basingstoke, Hampshire, has applied for a change in its entertainment licence, to make it the first venue in the town to stage topless dancing.

Critics claim the bar should not be allowed to put on the shows because it is a high street location, sandwiched between a post office and a charity shop.

The council's licensing committee voted on Monday night to refer the matter to a full council meeting later this month.

Council officers had recommended the plan be approved, but more than 30 objections have been submitted by members of the public against the move.

The bar's owners have said the performances would take place at night, when both stores and all those along the road will be closed.

The full council meeting will be held on 19 February.
