A prison officer from Bedfordshire has denied having a sexual relationship with an inmate. Donna Stanton, 27, of Ashmead Road, Bedford, denied misconduct in a public office at Luton Crown Court. She also denies giving a mobile phone to an inmate and a charge of perverting the course of justice. The offences are alleged to have happened between May 2008 and March 2009. Ms Stanton was bailed to stand trial in June. The charge relating to the mobile phone lists the device as a "prohibited item". The perverting the course of justice charge relates to an allegation that she made a false accusation about a prisoner. She had allegedly accused him of blackmailing her and stealing some of her belongings.
