Funding creates 96 jobs for young

Almost 100 jobs are being created for the unemployed in Milton Keynes following more than £600,000 in government funding.

The 96 positions will be for young people, many of whom are yet to have their first experience of work, Milton Keynes Council said.

More than half of the jobs will be available in the next few months.

They include posts at Maybe magazine, charity Women and Work, MK College, MK Dons Education Trust and Age Concern.

Jenni Ferrans, cabinet member for economic development, said: "We are determined that our young people will not suffer the depression that mass youth unemployment brings.

"I thank all those who have worked hard to identify suitable jobs and training."

Other employers who plan to take on young people under the scheme include Milton Keynes Primary Care Trust, Thames Valley Police, MKC Landscapes and Railcare.
