Amy Winehouse charged with assault at theatre

Singer Amy Winehouse has been charged in connection with an assault at Milton Keynes Theatre.

Ms Winehouse, 26, was charged with a public order offence and common assault in relation to an incident at the theatre on Saturday.

Police said Ms Winehouse, from Barnet, Hertfordshire, attended Milton Keynes police station voluntarily with her legal adviser in the afternoon.

She is due to appear at Milton Keynes Magistrates' Court on 20 January, 2010.

She has been charged under her married name, Amy Civil.
