Police want to interview the man who may be a witness

A CCTV image has been released of a man police want to interview in connection with the theft of money collected for the poppy appeal in Hertfordshire.

A man went into the Tesco store in Baldock at lunchtime on Monday claiming to be from the British Legion.

He presented a false identification document and left with the poppy appeal box and its contents.

Hertfordshire Police said the man in the picture may have witnessed the theft and could help the investigation.

Acting Chief Inspector Jason Thorne, said: "This incident is being thoroughly investigated.

"I would like to speak with the man pictured in the CCTV images in relation to this incident.

"It may be that he was a witness to the crime or can offer assistance in the investigation."
