No IPCC inquiry into man's death

Thames Valley Police will investigate the death of a man in Buckinghamshire a day after he was released from custody, the police watchdog has ruled.

The man, 47, was released from Aylesbury police station on Sunday after being held in an assault probe.

On Monday, the man's body was found at an address in Springfields, Padbury.

The case was referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), but it ruled Thames Valley Police should investigate.

Supt Richard List, Aylesbury's police commander, previously said: "We currently do not believe this death to be suspicious. This is a very tragic event and I would like to pass my sincere condolences on to the man's family.

"A family liaison officer has been appointed and is assisting the family during this very traumatic time."

The body has not yet been formally identified and the date for a post-mortem examination has not yet been set.
