Blaze victim taken to hospital

A woman has been taken to hospital after she was rescued from a house fire in Hertfordshire.

Emergency services were called to the terraced house in Redhill Road in Hitchin, in the early hours of Sunday.

Six firefighters wearing breathing equipment rescued the woman and the ambulance service took her to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

She is in intensive care in a serious but stable condition. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
