Charges after hospital axe attack

A man who was charged after security cameras at a Bedfordshire hospital's accident and emergency department were smashed with an axe, is due in court.

Police were called to Bedford Hospital after the incident which happened just before 0700 GMT on Thursday.

Derek Hunt, 46, of Beechdale Road, Bedford, has been charged with criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.

He is due to appear at Bedford Magistrates' Court later.
