Jail sentence for car park rapist

Mehmood was arrested a month after the attack

A man who raped a woman in a car park in Buckinghamshire has been jailed for seven-and-a-half years.

The woman was attacked off Pine Street in Fairford Leys, Aylesbury, early on 8 February 2009.

Abid Mehmood, 27, a former taxi driver from Elmhurst Road, Aylesbury, was convicted at the town's crown court.

Speaking after the case, Det Con Deborah Lee said it was a significant sentence, adding: "I hope it will give the victim closure."
