A CCTV image of an armed man who robbed a Luton bookmakers has been released by detectives. The man went into Ladbrokes on Eaton Green Road at lunchtime on Wednesday with what appeared to be a gun covered by a carrier bag and demanded cash. The man left the scene on foot with an unknown quantity of cash heading in the Mistletoe Hill direction, police said. Det Sgt Marie Gresswell said she was keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery. The offender is described as black, in his mid 20s, approximately 5ft 8ins (1.7m) tall, wearing dark clothing with his face covered. Det Sgt Gresswell said: "This is a very busy area of Luton during the day and motorists, shoppers or pedestrians may have seen this man loitering in the shopping area prior to the robbery. "Bedfordshire Police and the residents of Luton will not tolerate gun crime and I would urge anyone with information about this man to come forward and assist the police with this investigation."
