Murder inquiry after town death

Police have started a murder investigation and made two arrests following the death of a 20-year-old man in Buckinghamshire.

The victim, who has not been identified, was attacked at about 2300 BST on Monday.

Thames Valley Police said up to four men assaulted the victim at Buckinghamshire House in White Hart Street, High Wycombe.

Two men, aged 18 and 21, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

'Early stages'

Paramedics and police attempted to save the victim's life at the scene, but he later died at the Wycombe General Hospital.

Det Ch Insp Pete Vigurs, who is leading the investigation, said: "We believe this was a deliberate attack and a murder investigation has been launched.

"Buckinghamshire House has been cordoned off and police continue with their inquiries in the area.

"We are still in the very early stages of the investigation and are attempting to establish the circumstances around the young man's death.

"I appeal to anyone who was in the area yesterday evening and saw anyone acting suspiciously near Buckinghamshire House between 2300 and 2330 BST, possibly riding on bicycles, to contact police immediately.

"If you have any information, however insignificant you think it might be, please get in touch."
