Girl dies and six hurt in crash

A girl was killed and six people were injured in a crash in Hertfordshire.

Six ambulances and London's air ambulance were sent to the scene of the crash on the A412 at Maple Cross which involved two cars.

The girl was taken to hospital where she later died. A woman suffered life-threatening injuries.

A police spokeswoman said the crash on Saturday happened before flash floods started but there was heavy rain when emergency services were at the scene.

During the flash floods Hertfordshire firefighters responded to 130 emergency calls in four hours.
