Airport puts drop-off fee on hold

Luton Airport
The £1 charge for dropping off passengers has been put on hold

Luton Airport has decided to hold off plans to introduce a £1 charge for dropping off passengers at its terminal building.

The charge was planned for this month but an airport spokeswoman said more research needed to be done.

She said: "We are in the process of looking at all the dropping-off and car parking options at the airport."

Motorists would have had to pay the levy to spend up to 10 minutes in the airport's refurbished drop-off zone.

The spokeswoman said: "We will be bringing forward a full access plan which will outline all the drop-off and parking charges at Luton within the next couple of weeks.

"Until we do that, the charging is on hold at the moment."

The airport said at the time that passengers could have been dropped off at the mid-term car park to catch a shuttle bus to avoid the fee.

Last year it brought in a £1 fee to use its trolleys and clear plastic bags to take liquids through security.
