Cash boost for public transport

More than £5m is to be spent improving bus services in central Milton Keynes.

The government money will be used to increase the number of stops and improve lighting, seating and access to the buses.

Two new bus-turning lanes will be created at the junctions of Midsummer Boulevard, Saxon Gate and Avebury Boulevard to improve reliability.

Milton Keynes has been identified as one of four major growth areas in the South East of England.

Councillor Douglas McCall, cabinet member with responsibility for transport, said: "This money shows the confidence the government has in Milton Keynes."
