DNA kits to fight street robbers

An advanced DNA kit is to be used by police in Luton in a fight against street robberies.

Portable DNA kits will be introduced this month alongside the DNA swabs currently used by officers at the scene of a crime.

The kits retain DNA evidence that offenders leave on a victim's clothes. They have alerady been used in Hertfordshire.

DNA identification collected will allow police to trace offenders more quickly.
