Body confirmed as missing woman

The body of a woman found in a river in Hertfordshire has been confirmed as that of a 74-year-old who had been missing from her home.

Police began searching for Valerie Abrams after she went missing from her home in East Road, Bishops Stortford, on 8 January.

Her body was found in the River Stort under The Causeway bridge in Bishops Stortford on Saturday night.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
