Body find in missing woman search

Police searching for a missing 74-year-old from Hertfordshire have found a body in a river.

Hertfordshire Police said the body of a woman was found in the River Stort under The Causeway bridge in Bishops Stortford on Saturday night.

A police spokeswoman said the body had not yet been formally identified.

Earlier police said they were concerned for the welfare of Valerie Abrams, of East Road in the town, who had not been seen for two days.

Relatives reported her missing after they were unable to contact her. She was last heard from on Thursday evening.

The police spokeswoman said the discovery of the body was not being treated as suspicious.
