A teenager who had denied killing a man who died after trying to break up a fight has changed his plea and admitted manslaughter.

James Latimer, 22, of Bedford, died in May after trying to stop the fight outside a takeaway in the town.

Michael Anderson, 19, from Robert Hunt Gardens, in Sandy, Beds, was to stand trial at Luton Crown Court on Monday.

The judge will now hear evidence from some witnesses in relation to an aspect of the case before passing sentence.

Mr Latimer, of Dearne Walk, Bedford, died from head injuries.

He was found in the early hours of Sunday 4 May outside a takeaway in Midland Road.

Mr Latimer, who wanted to be a sports journalist, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where he died on Monday 5 May.

Daniel Jackson, 20, of Sudeley Walk, Bedford, pleaded not guilty to a charge of violent disorder relating to the incident, and guilty to a charge of affray.

Jackson, who appeared at Luton Crown Court, will be sentenced later.
