Teenage inmate found dead in cell

An 18-year-old inmate has been found hanged in his cell at HMP Aylesbury, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has said.

Prisoner Jonathan Campbell was serving a seven-and-a-half year sentence at the Buckinghamshire prison for kidnap, grievous bodily harm and robbery.

Staff and paramedics attempted resuscitation but the teenager was declared dead at 0206 GMT.

An MoJ spokeswoman said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Campbell."

She added: "As with all deaths in custody the prisons and probation ombudsman will conduct an investigation."
