Man dies in third-floor flat fire

A man who was found in the flats died later in hospital

One man has died after a fire at a flat in Luton.

Firefighters were called to the third floor flat at Penhill Flats, Wauluds Bank Drive, Marsh Farm, in the early hours of the morning.

One man was found in the flats and he was taken by ambulance to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, but later died.

Bedfordshire Fire Service said the flat had smoke alarms fitted, but officers were investigating whether they were working at the time of the fire.
