Code-breaking computer revealed

Colossus
Colossus was rebuilt over 14 years at Bletchley Park

The giant World War II code-breaking computer Colossus will be up and running at an event in Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes.

Colossus was one of the world's first electronic computers and was used to break the German Lorenz SZ42 cipher.

A demonstration of how the computer worked out the codes is taking place on Thursday evening.

It follows a 14-year project to rebuild the pioneering computer after it was broken up to keep its workings secret.

Bletchley Park was the hub of Allies' code-breaking during World War II.
