Men assaulted after clamping car

Two car clampers have been beaten by a gang after they secured a car.

The men, working for Whites Car Park Solution, were awaiting payment after clamping a Volkswagen Polo when six Asian men attacked them, police said.

The men, from Southampton and Crawley, were taken to hospital for treatment for facial and rib injuries after the attack in Dunstable Road on Friday.

Pc Steve Guerin said after the victims fled they saw the group then cause damage to their vehicle.

"We arrived shortly afterwards, but the offenders had left the scene and made good their escape," he said.

"This was a very vicious attack.

"We know that the victims had demanded £150 payment from the owner of the car when the assault happened, but whatever people think about wheel clamping, it does not justify what followed."

Anyone who saw the attack is urged to contact police.
