Bins to tackle sticky gum problem

Two types of chewing gum bins are being installed in Milton Keynes to find the one people respond best to.

The trial will see six of each type placed on lamposts on opposite sides of the road in Queensway, Bletchley.

Thousands of gum wraps will also be given out to local schools as part of the anti-litter campaign by Milton Keynes Council.

Councils have the power to fine people caught dropping gum £75, but have said gathering evidence can be difficult.
