Two arrested after man injured

Two men have been arrested after a man was left in a critical condition in hospital with head injuries suffered in a fight involving up to 20 people.

The 22-year-old victim was found by police at 0315 BST near the Subwich takeaway in Midland Road, Bedford.

He was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, where he is said to be in an extremely serious condition.

Police said two men, aged 18 and 21, had been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

They are being questioned at police stations in Bedfordshire.

A large group of people were involved in a disorder in the street shortly before the man was found, police said.

Bedfordshire Police urged anyone with any information as to how the man received his injuries to contact them.
