Dead body found floating in river

Police have removed a body from the River Great Ouse in Bedford.

Officers were called to the scene after a member of the public saw a body close to the suspension bridge off The Embankment.

The body, believed to be that of a man, has been taken to hospital for a post-mortem tests to be carried out.

Police say no formal identification of the body has been possible and they have not been able to ascertain the cause of death.
