Traveller 'abducted' from vehicle

Detectives are trying to trace a traveller who they believe was abducted from his vehicle in Hertfordshire.

John Finney's abandoned Mitsubishi Shogun was found in Park Farm, Northaw Road West in Northaw, on Friday night.

Police say they are getting "increasingly concerned" for the safety of Mr Finney, 42, and have been searching land where he was last seen.

Mr Finney's disappearance was reported to police in the early hours of Saturday by his cousin.

He and his family are well-known within the travelling community and police have been working closely with them to find him.

Det Ch Insp Bill Jephson, of Hertfordshire Police, said: "We are increasingly concerned for John's safety and would appeal to anyone who has any information about his disappearance to contact us.

"It is unknown at this stage why John has been taken against his will but I can assure his family and friends that we are working meticulously to try and trace him and will leave no stone unturned."
