Fire crews tackle warehouse blaze
Thirty firefighters have been tackling a large fire at a car parts warehouse in Bedfordshire.

It broke out at FAI Automotive PLC on the Chiltern Trading Estate in Leighton Buzzard shortly after 1630 GMT.

Ten fire engines from across the county were called to the scene and the warehouse was cordoned off.

A number of people living close to the industrial estate were evacuated from their homes amid fears the smoke may contain particles of asbestos.

Automatic alarm

Police said they were staying with relatives.

Some roads were closed in the immediate vicinity of the blaze and motorists were told to avoid the area.

Those not evacuated from their homes but living close to the scene were advised to keep their windows and doors closed.

Fire crews were alerted by an automatic fire alarm.
