Cyclist dies after car collision
A cyclist has died in hospital after being knocked off his bike by a vehicle that did not stop.

The victim, in his 40s, was cycling on Bridge Road East in Welwyn Garden City on Friday night when his bike was hit by what is thought to be a black BMW.

The man, who lived locally, was taken to the QE2 Hospital where he died on Saturday morning.

Det Sgt Amanda Bell said: "It is possible the driver did not realise how serious the accident was."

She said the BMW was damaged and has a missing nearside wing mirror, casing around the fog light and dents to the front nearside.

"We are appealing for the driver to get in touch," she said.
