Travelodge is given £20,000 fine
Hotel company Travelodge has been fined £20,000 after two accidents in their bathrooms.

At Cambridge Crown Court, the firm admitted five offences of breaking the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

The company was prosecuted by Mid Beds District Council after an inspection in October 2005 found it had failed to report the accidents.

In one case, at the Travelodge in Marston Moretaine, Beds, a guest was taken to hospital after falling.

The council said the company continued to fail to take action to eliminate or minimise slipping dangers for a period of two years after the initial accident.

It said each bath could have had its surface renewed for as little as £35.

Travelodge was also ordered to pay £50,000 costs.
