Care worker was stabbed to death

The funeral of a care worker who was stabbed at a Bedfordshire nursing home is to take place later.

Kathleen Bainbridge, 58, of North Drift Way, Luton, died on 24 August after the stabbing at Abacus House, Princes Street in Dunstable.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned. The cause of death was stab wounds. Her funeral is being held at The Vale in Stopsley, Luton, Beds.

Stephen Flatt, 54, who lived at Abacus House, is charged with her murder.

Mr Flatt is also charged with the attempted murder of Mrs Bainbridge's colleague, Barbara Hill.

He has been remanded in custody until his next appearance at Luton Crown Court on 10 December.
