Tories benefit from independents
Seven independents lost their seats at South Buckinghamshire District Council in the local elections and the Tories were the major beneficiaries.

Their majority increased to 36 leaving opposition to two newly elected Liberal Democrats and two representatives of local residents.

The council is based on Denham and has been a Tory stronghold since the 1970s.

There was one four year period from 1995 when there was no overall control but since then Tories have dominated.
