Labour has won control of Luton where previously no party had overall control after gaining five seats.
The party strengthened their hold over the Bedfordshire town with 26 Labour members outnumbering the 17 Liberal Democrats who lost four seats.
It ends a a four year period of no overall control for the council.
The Conservatives now have five members after winning one seat while the independent members lost both seats they had won the previous year.
There were a total of 48 seats up for grabs in Luton.
