A pilot died and his passenger suffered serious injuries when the microlight they were travelling in crash landed.
Jaysukh Madhvani, 54, from Barnet, London, died as he attempted to land at an air strip at Plaistow Farm, near St Albans, Hertfordshire.
His female passenger was airlifted to Milton Keynes Hospital with serious injuries after the crash on Wednesday.
A farmer, who witnessed the accident, pulled both victims from the wreckage and alerted emergency services.
Police, fire and ambulance crews all attended.
Gary Sanderson, East of England Ambulance spokesman said: "Sadly the male was pronounced dead at the scene by a fast response doctor.
"The passenger was stabilised before being airlifted to Milton Keynes hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries."
Tim Atkinson from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch confirmed a full investigation was now under way.
