Grandmother dies after assault
An 84-year-old grandmother has died after being attacked outside her Bedfordshire flat.

Dorothy "Dolly" Cheval was found on Wednesday afternoon with head and body injuries outside her home in Beaudesert, Leighton Buzzard.

Bedfordshire Police arrested a man in connection with her death and he was released on bail on Thursday.

Officers want to speak to potential witnesses, including children who were playing football close by.

Mrs Cheval was taken to Luton and Dunstable Hospital but died on Thursday and a post-mortem examination was taking place on Friday.

Det Supt Keith Garwood said: "Dolly was a popular individual and a much loved mother and grandmother and we are determined to find out what happened to her.

"She loved to sit outside her flat and watch the world go by but on Wednesday it appears she was the subject of a very nasty assault."
