The arrests were in connection with the London bombings
Anti-terrorist police officers have raided a house in Buckinghamshire in connection with the London bombings, the Met Police has confirmed.

Police carried out the raid on a property in Aylesbury on Wednesday night and searched the premises.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said the forensic examination could take "some time to complete".

Police are believed to have carried out the raid at about 1900 BST, although no arrests have been made.

A Met Police spokesman said a detailed forensic examination would now be carried out. No explosive substances are believed to have been recovered.

'Generally quiet'

A spokesman said: "We can confirm that officers from the anti-terrorist branch supported by officers from Thames Valley Police executed a search warrant issued under the Terrorism Act at residential premises in Buckinghamshire."

Resident Nicholas Doe, who lives on Northern Road where the raid took place, said his family and nearby residents had not been evacuated.

"There are at least 20 policemen and some vans," he said.

Mr Doe said the neighbourhood is "generally quiet", comprised mainly of small terraced houses.

Police have not explained why the building - which is about half a mile from Aylesbury town centre - has been targeted.

One local councillor said he understood from police the search was in connection with the incident in Luton, in which a car containing explosives was found at the town's railway station.

Councillor Niknam Hussain said he also understood the property had been occupied by a man who had "connections with a car in Luton".
