Pupils at a school in Luton are to be screened for tuberculosis after a 15-year-old tested positive.
The girl at Icknield High had been ill for some time before TB was confirmed but is now back at school and no longer infectious, the school said.
The school has offered screening to 140 pupils and staff. Parents have also been informed by letter and told that there is no cause for alarm.
The incidence of TB in Luton, Beds, is three times the national average.
A joint statement issued by the school and the local Health Protection Team says: "Although she has been unwell for some time, she only recently began exhibiting symptoms of TB.
"She has been on treatment and responded well and is back at school because she is no longer infectious."
