Villagers in Bedfordshire who were left without water when a main burst underneath the A6 will be reconnected to supplies on Tuesday afternoon.
Residents in Barton, Shillington and parts of Gravenhurst have been without water since Sunday.
Tankers with drinking water have been stationed around the villages.
Becky Doughty from Anglian Water said it had taken so long to mend the mains because they had to bring in special equipment to do the job in one go.
"It was a fairly big burst main, so we needed to make sure we had everything together in the one place ready to do it in one go, which is why we waited," she said.
