The brother of a woman last seen dressed in a clown costume to collect money for a children's charity has appealed for her safe return.

Doreen Webster, who was staying with her father in Harpenden, Herts, has been missing since 9 August.

She disappeared after meeting her brother, Lee, 19, for a drink in St Albans High Street at lunchtime.

He said: "How I wish we had gone home together. I can't help feeling it's my fault. I just want her back safe."

Miss Webster's father, Phil Webster, said: "It's the not knowing that's the worst. You feel so helpless."

Miss Webster, who comes from West Bromwich, has been described as white, around 5ft 5ins tall and of slim build. She has long dark hair.

She was wearing a bright red jacket, striped baggy trousers and oversized clown's shoes when she disappeared.

Det Con Neil Barella said: "We are concerned about Doreen's welfare. We would very much like to speak to anyone who may have had contact with Doreen or saw her collecting money on that night."
