M1 widening plans go on display
Plans to expand part of the M1 go on display to the public next week.

The final exhibition will show proposals to widen 15 miles of the M1 in Bedfordshire between junction 10 and junction 13.

The Highways Agency will be at the exhibition at Flitwick Leisure Centre from Friday, 14 January.

John Steel Highways Agency project leader said: ""It is designed to reduce congestion and improve safety on one of the busiest motorways in the country."

The agency says the road north of Luton is an accident black spot, with an average of 460 crashes a year.

Exhibitions were also held in November and December 2004 in Luton and in Aspley Guise.

The closing date for comments about the proposals is 9 April 2005.
