More than 22,000 fans were expected to attend a concert by Sir Elton John to raise funds for Watford Football club.

The Back for the Future concert took place at the Championship club's Vicarage Road ground on Saturday.

He said: "I've played the most famous and memorable venues in the world... but playing at the home of the club I support is really very special."

It will be a special night for a very special club
Sir Elton John

Speaking to Watford Football Club Sir Elton said: "The last time I played at Vicarage Road, in 1974, my career was in the process of taking off - as was my relationship with the club.

"I was a vice-president at the time and two years later I became chairman, and the rest is history.

"In recent times, I've played quite a few football grounds around the country, but, understandably Vicarage Road holds a special place in my heart.

"It will be a special night for a really special club."
