Police chief announces retirement
Paul Hancock
Mr Hancock will be leaving in about six months
Bedfordshire's Chief Constable, Paul Hancock, has announced his retirement.

Mr Hancock, 54, who became the county's police chief in April 2001, will retire around June 2005 after almost 32 years' service with the force.

He said he was a little sad to be leaving a position which he felt privileged to have held.

"It is, however, I feel right for me personally and professionally as I have always wanted to go out while at the top of my game," he said.
