Murder victim leaves £1m in will
Robert Workman
Mr Workman was shot at his home in January
The retired Lieutenant Colonel who was shot dead on the doorstep of his home in Furneux Pelham, Hertfordshire, has left nearly £1m in his will.

Solicitors revealed Robert Workman left most of the money to relatives.

Police have said they will look at the will as part of their murder investigation but insist it may not be of great significance to the inquiry.

Despite appeals to the public for information about Mr Workman's death, the killer has not yet been identified.

A £10,000 reward is being offered for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the murderer.

Local accent

Mr Workman, 83, was killed with a 12-bore shotgun on 7 January.

Police are trying to trace a male caller with a local accent who phoned for an ambulance some time after the killing.

The officer leading the inquiry, Det Supt Adrian Tapp, said profilers believe Mr Workman was murdered by someone who held a long-standing grudge.

"The investigation team has spoken to many of his close friends and family from as far back as his childhood and army days," he said.

"But we still need to hear from anyone who knew him, even if they don't think their acquaintance is relevant."
