Search for fatal accident driver
A 56-year-old woman has been knocked down and killed by an unknown vehicle which did not stop in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, on Thursday night.

Police believe the woman was walking along Walker's Road off the main A1081 which goes through the town at about 2150 BST and was struck by the vehicle.

She died later of multiple injuries according to a police spokeswoman.

She said: "The incident happened around 100 metres east of the junction with the A1081 road."

The woman was found in the road but there are very few details of the accident.

"The 56-year-old local woman was walking eastbound in the road when she was struck by the vehicle.

"At this stage we have no further details of the vehicle involved," the spokeswoman said.
