Biker reached 157mph
Andrew Osborne arriving at court
Andrew Osborne has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving
Traffic police clocked the speed of a biker overtaking a lorry at 157 miles per hour, a court has heard.

The speed reached by Andrew Osborne, 29, on his Kawasaki 1200cc motorbike is believed to be the fastest officially recorded in England by police.

He had been riding with a friend, 29-year-old Neil Bolger, whose Kawasaki 750cc was recorded at a speed of 148 miles per hour.

Magistrates at Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire heard that on 25 March, both men were travelling at more than twice the limit on the A421 Tingewick bypass near Buckingham.

Guilty plea

Prosecuting, Teresa Murphy said they were seen overtaking a lorry near the Finmere roundabout by a officer doing spot checks with a speed gun.

Mr Osborne, of Marston Avenue, Lighthorne Heath, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire and Mr Bolger, of St Marks Close, Gaydon, Warwickshire both pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

Sentence was adjourned after an application from defence solicitor Darren Rogers, who said the men had not been racing each other.

The magistrates passed an interim driving disqualification order on both men.

They are due to be sentenced on 15 July.

The person convicted of driving at the highest speed in the UK is believed to be Daniel Nicks, who filmed himself at 175 mph in Buckinghamshire on his motorcycle in 2000.
