Thieves broke into Spring Hill open prison
Thieves have broken into a Buckinghamshire prison and stolen 650 from a safe.

The raiders smashed their way into Spring Hill open prison near Aylesbury.

A Prison Service spokeswoman said the thieves also escaped with mobile phones.

They also forced open many lockers containing the personal effects of inmates and stole valuables.

The spokeswoman said: "The safe contained 650 of prison money.

"This was used to give discharge grants to prisoners."

Police are investigating the raid, which happened over the weekend.
