The helicopter from Devon had to refuel during the rescue operation
Emergency services in Devon and Cornwall have been involved in the overnight rescue of an injured seaman off the coast of Ireland.
Falmouth Coastguard co-ordinated the medical evacuation after an accident on the container ship Montreal Express on Tuesday night.
An RAF helicopter crew from RMB Chivenor airlifted the injured seaman, and Indian man in his 40s, to hospital.
He sustained serious head and back injuries when he fell from a ladder.
The helicopter, which had to refuel en route, took the injured seaman to hospital in southern Ireland. His condition is not known.
