A man has been charged with the murder of a mother-of-two who was stabbed on a Lancashire street.

Tracy Dryden, 37, from Ingleton, North Yorkshire, died from a single wound to the chest in an incident in Lancaster on Friday morning.

John Dryden, 43, of Thacking Lane, Ingleton, has been remanded in custody, and will appear before Lancaster magistrates on Monday, police said.

Ms Dryden's family described her as a "loving and wonderful mother".

"She was completely dedicated to her two children, whilst at the same time working at completing her PhD," they said in a statement issued by Lancashire police.

"She will be dreadfully missed by us and an irreplaceable part of all our lives."
