A funeral has been held in Eastbourne for Lance Corporal Michael Pritchard, of the Royal Military Police, who died in Afghanistan.

L/Cpl Pritchard, who was born in Kent but lived in Eastbourne, was buried at Ocklynge Cemetery.

Greg Szanto, the town's mayor, was among the mourners to attend the service held at All Saint's Church.

The 22-year-old soldier was killed in suspected "friendly fire" in Sangin, central Helmand Province in December.

His death is being investigated by the Royal Military Police, the MoD said.
