Overhead cables disrupt railway

Train services have been disrupted across the East because of two problems with overhead power lines.

CrossCountry, National Express East Anglia and Stansted Express services have been affected by the problems.

Buses are replacing trains between Cambridge and Stansted Airport and Cambridge and Royston because of problems near Cambridge.

Delays between Harlow Town and Stansted Airport because of a problem in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire, have cleared.

People flying from Stansted Airport were advised to allow "plenty of time" for their journey.

And travellers using services which pass through Cambridge have been warned that journeys may be delayed by up to an hour.

The line is believed to be ready for reopening by about 1630 GMT.
